CLINCHING - MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY FOR STAMPED AND FORMED METAL PARTS

Stable, material-efficient connections

Clinching is a process for joining sheet metal without using any filler material. It is part of the “joining by forming” group of methods as the connection is achieved by forming the material.

The clinching manufacturing process is used at Bihler primarily in round body production. In "Bihler clinching", the blank ends are punched and then joined together as in a "puzzle".

The advantages:

- higher production speeds
- very stable connection
- high strength of the component
- no further joining process necessary
- less material used
