Our innovative, patented contact welding units are the ideal devices for welding contacts made from wire and profiled strip. They consist of a material feed, a non-return gripper, a cutting station and the welding gripper with the electrodes.
It is particularly problematic to complete difficult welding
jobs within press-based manufacturing sequences. To
help solve this problem, Bihler has developed an NC controller
which can perform cycle-independent movements.
This means that it is possible to trigger processing modules,
such as all the wire welding units, independently
of the slide motion of the press and other mechanically
generated pulses. The advantage is that due to the low
closing speed of the electrodes it is, for example, possible
to avoid any deformation of the welding auxiliaries
on the lower side of the contact. The control of the NC
axes is integrated in the B 5000 welding control unit and
makes it possible both to program and archive trajectories.
Water-cooled linear drives (servomotors) perform
the corresponding movements. Up to eight axis units or
motors can be activated by a single NC control. A TFT
screen displays the data while the parameters can be set
at the B 5000 welding system‘s operator panel. The pulse
for the NC axis modules may come from the operation of any higher-level machine or from another system.
